application
2-Methyl pyrimidine can be used as an intermediate in pharmaceutical synthesis and an intermediate in organic synthesis, mainly used in laboratory research and development processes and chemical pharmaceutical synthesis processes.
Preparation
The specific steps for the preparation of 2-thionopyrimidine are as follows: The suspension of potassium carbonate (27.6g,0.2mol) in acetone (200ml) solution of 2-mercaptopyrimidine (0.1mol) and methyl iodide (18.7ml,0.3mol) is heated and refluxed for 3 hours. The reaction mixture is allowed to cool, then filtered, and then evaporated in vacuum. The mixture was distilled at a pressure of 0.01mmHg to give 12.7g of 2-methylthio -4, 6-dimethylpyrimidine, a white solid. A portion of this solid (4.42g,28.7mmol) was dissolved in dichloromethane (200ml) and m-chloroperoxybenzoic acid (50%,22.8g,66.0mmol) was added in batches. The resulting mixture is stirred for 5 days, finally filtered, and then evaporated in vacuum. Purified by silica gel rapid column chromatography with ether as eluent, 2-methylsulfonyl pyrimidine was obtained as a white solid, m.pt.,81 ℃.
